Nimona by Noelle Steveson is a fantasy and adventure graphic novel. The story follows Nimona, a reckless shapeshifter, and Lord Blackheart, the wizard she apprentices. They are attempting to bring attention to the immoral acts being committed by the Institute of Law Enforcement. “A dangerous nation is a powerful nation.”

Nimona has it all: drama, betrayal, and a positive lesson to learn. The characters are captivating. The world Stevenson has built is phenomenal.  What's more, all of it is brought together with her awe-inspiring artwork. Nimona is a perfect adventure story told with amazing characters and plot. Lord Blackheart is an understandable villain. He tried to follow society's rules, was knocked down and forced to respond in the only way the society told him he could. Nimona is tan adorable shapeshifter with a taste for revenge. They learn to work together and learn more about each other.Everything about Nimona (the art, the story, the characters) is remarkable. The character development was incredible. Not only with Nimona, but with Lord Blackheart and Sir Goldenloin (great name!) as well. The ending was fantastic. Having to leave the characters and the world behind was kind of painful. However, the ending was spectacular. I most definitely recommend checking Nimona out, as well as looking into Stevenson’s other works. You won’t be disappointed.

 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thunder and Daisy by Mercedes Paradiso is a collection of poetry. Split into two chapters –Thunder and   Daisy- the poems contained within focus mainly on love and heartbreak.   Thunder and Daisy is a specific type of poetry called instapoetry. This is fairly obvious when reading the book. The poems are intersected with pictures to represent the poem that precedes it. I feel that the pictures aren’t necessary and the poems speak for themselves. The poems in Daisy broke away from the more simplistic ones in Thunder. Seeing the difference between the two chapters was a great way to not have the poetry seem repetitive.   I’m glad I read Thunder and Daisy.
